Your image stays in your browser
The converter reads the file you select or paste and processes it using your browser. The conversion code does not send the image, its filename, or its generated ASCII content to our server or Google Analytics. Preview and export files are created locally. Choosing a supplied sample downloads that sample from this website.
Copying or downloading a result does not publish it. If you later post your image or ASCII output to another service, that service handles the content under its own policies.
Website analytics are separate from image processing
This website loads Google Analytics to understand visits, referral sources and tool usage. Google Analytics can use cookies and browser/device information to measure visits. “Local image processing” does not mean that browsing the website makes no network requests or that analytics is disabled.
Our tool events record successful image loading, generation, copying and export, and fixed error categories. Event parameters distinguish the interface language, a supplied sample from a user image, and the output format. They do not include the selected image, filename or ASCII text. A download event means that the browser download was initiated; it cannot confirm that you saved or opened the file.
Learning links and recipe actions record fixed guide and recipe identifiers. These identifiers are also kept in browser session storage for up to 30 minutes to connect a guide visit with later tool actions. This storage does not contain images, filenames or generated text.
See Google’s explanation of data from sites using its services. You can manage cookies and site permissions in your browser. Blocking analytics does not prevent local conversion.
Hosting and contact
The site is served through Cloudflare. Loading a web page involves network requests to the hosting service; this is separate from uploading an image to the converter. If you email us, include only the information needed to answer your question. You do not need to send your original image to report a problem.
About our guides
Image to ASCII is the name under which this site publishes its guides. The examples use original AI-created source images made for this site, processed with the same browser converter available to visitors. Each guide gives the example settings, shows the resulting artwork, and links to the generated TXT file so you can inspect the actual characters. These are worked examples, not claims that a message or cover was published on GitHub, Discord, or another platform. For corrections, contact us at the address above.
About the tool
Image to ASCII supports browser-decodable JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF input, with still-image output. Simple, Dense, Detailed and Minimal are ASCII character sets; Blocks uses Unicode. The tool is independent of GitHub, Discord and the other platforms mentioned in our guides.
